Holbrook, Massachusetts is located in Eastern Massachusetts, bordered by Braintree on the north, Weymouth on the east,
Abington and Brockton on the south, and Avon and Randolph on the west. Holbrook
is 6 miles north of Brockton; 16 miles southeast of Boston; 36 miles northeast
of Providence, Rhode Island; and 214 miles from New York City. The principal highway is State Route 37, which runs north to State Route
128, the inner belt around Boston, and south to State Route 28. State Route
139 runs E-W through the town. Commuter rail service to South Station, Boston, will be available in
1996-97 on the Middleborough Line. The MBTA Red Line is accessible from
Braintree and Quincy. Travel time to Park Street from Quincy Center: 20
min.; 872 MBTA Parking Spaces. Conrail services a freight rail line through

The Town of Holbrook is a bedroom community of 11,041 people, located south
of Boston. Originally part of Randolph and Braintree, Holbrook has 7.32
square miles within its boundaries. A study of 44 South Shore communities
compiled by the Northeastern University Center for Labor Market Studies
showed that economically the town has experienced the lowest rate of family
income increase over the past ten years. The study showed Holbrook's
family income gain as 6.9% as compared with at least one other South Shore
community showing gains of 40%. The median family income in 1989 dollars
was $43,947, lowest of the 44 South Shore communities in the study.
